Lohan Surrenders to Authorities
Lindsay Lohan will face DUI charges for a Memorial Day weekend car crash earlier this year. Lohan, to her credit, turned herself in, accompanied by her lawyer, at the Beverly Hills police department. Miss Lohan arrived for booking and finger-printing shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday. She faces DUI charges, as well as misdemeanor hit and run charges. Lohan, now 21, was initially arrested after the incident, but was not formally booked prior to Thursday, reports The San Jose Mercury News. A court date is planned for late August, and Lohan was released on her own recognizance.
The surrender to authorities caps a six-week-plus stint in rehab for alcohol dependency issues. The Promises center stay was Lohan's second attempt at rehab. The young actress previously checked herself into rehab in January.
The car crash, which started Lohan's current legal troubles, took place on May 26th at around 5:30 a.m. Lohan was behind the wheel of her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 when she lost control and collided with the curb and shrubbery on Sunset Boulevard.
