Reality television has covered all facets of the entertainment industry when searching for new talent. Except for one. Jada Pinkett-Smith and Simon Cowell announced their collaboration on the show DJ Superstar in hopes of finding the world’s best DJ.
Cowell’s company, SYCO Entertainment, and Overbrook Entertainment, owned by Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith, have partnered with Sony Pictures Television to transform their genius idea into a hit reality competition.
NY Daily News quoted a statement made by Cowell. “We have been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people. As soon as I met Jada and Miguel [Melendez] from Overbrook, I knew they would be our ideal partners. DJs are the new rock stars. It feels like the right time to make the show,” the entrepreneur said.
According to Just Jared, Smith expressed her enthusiasm for the new business venture in a statement. “I am happy to be creating it alongside Simon Cowell, the Sony team, and my partner Miguel Melendez, on behalf of the Overbrook family,” the actress said.
After music lovers witnessed DJ David Guetta’s rise to fame, it is no surprise that these performers are finally being recognized. Guetta, a former nightclub DJ, is now collaborating with A-list artists including Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida, and Usher.
DJ Superstar will be a breath of fresh air for viewers. They will get an inside look of the hard work and skill that is required for this profession. Watch out David Guetta, you may have to share the spotlight!
