The Lorax is coming in 2012
Like other Dr. Seuss stories made into films and animated shorts, "The Lorax" will also have its chance at stardom. According to ecorazzi.com, Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures have unveiled a Lorax movie that will premiere in animated 3D in 2012. The screenplay will be written by the same team who produced "Horton Hears a Who."
"The Lorax" tells the story of a greedy businessman who cuts down all of the Truffala trees that were the homes of the Lorax and other animals of the whimsical land. The Lorax is the little creature who becomes cranky enough to put a stop to all the pollution and the destruction of his land.
According to the New York Times, "The Lorax" originally sparked controversy in 1971 when it was published because logging companies thought it was direct retaliation to their business, disguised as a children's book. The film will be directed with former Seuss undertaker Chris Renaud.
