The Los Angeles Times Endorses Obama and McCain
The Los Angeles Times endorsed both Barack Obama and John McCain, Friday, just four days before Super Tuesday, according to The New York Times.
The L.A. Times chose Obama, as stated in their released statement, because they share similar positions on the Iraq war and health care reform. The Times also was quite fond of Obama's "sense of aspiration."
While the L.A. Times did not agree with John McCain on most social issues, the issue that swayed the paper towards supporting McCain in Tuesday's Republican primary is that he is strongly in favor of closing Guantanamo Bay.
The paper co-sponsored both the Democratic and Republican California debates this week, and figures to have a great deal of sway because they are the largest paper in the state.
