'Lost' Finale to be on a Sunday

Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof reveal news on 'Jimmy Kimmel'.

For its final season, Lost has been placed on a new day, Tuesday, while its previous seasons aired on Wednesdays. Traditionally, the season finales have always aired on the same day as the rest of the episodes. But not this time.

Showrunners Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof appeared together on ABC's late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live after the premier of Lost this past Tuesday. While there, they revealed that the Lost series finale will be airing on May 23 - a Sunday.

The decision to move the last episode was likely made to prevent the show from having to compete with the final episodes of Fox's American Idol, which will be airing the first part of the finals at the same time as Lost's usual Tuesday time slot. A Sunday airing would allow the show more breathing room with slim competition. So, yes, even the show itself isn't immune to time warps.
