'Lost' Returns

The fourth season of the television series "Lost" begins this week.

In the season three finale last May it seemed like "Lost" was about to be found -- or, over, at least. The plane crash survivors defeated "the Others" (known to fans as the enemies), got in touch with the world not on the island and, in the final minutes, seemed close to being rescued.

Season four begins Thursday, and according to the San Jose Mercury News, "There are a lot of plot lines in motion when 'Lost' returns -- and [there are] some concerns about whether the upcoming season will frustrate more than it thrills."

With the writer's strike still going strong, only eight of the 16 planned action-packed episodes have been produced, USA Today reported.

But the actors believe that makes the story more exciting since more mysteries will be explained quicker.

As the "Lost" series comes to a close, fittingly Thursday's episode has been titled "The Beginning of the End." Sources: San Jose Mercury News, Detroit Free Press, USA Today
