Lottery for Jackson Memorial Service
Free tickets to the memorial service in honor of the late Michael Jackson will be given away free via a lottery system, according to Entertainment Weekly. The service will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.
Tim Leiweke, head of AEG Live, which was producing Jackson's "This Is It" tour, said that 11,000 tickets will be for the actual service in the Staples Center, while another 6,500 will be for the Nokia Theater across the street. The latter will have live feed from the center.
Fans can try to pick up a pair of tickets by heading to StaplesCenter.com until Saturday 6 p.m. Pacific Time. If chosen, they will be notified via e-mail on Sunday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Pacific Time. Instructions in the e-mail will explain where fans can obtain their tickets and wristbands. According to BBC News, the lottery is only open to U.S. residents.
People Magazine reported that wristbands are being used to ward off scalpers.Do not worry, in the event that you do not score tickets to the service, both broadcast and cable TV networks will have access to the feed.
According to BBC News, there will be no public funeral procession and no screens outside the center and theater to cover the event.Jackson was rehearsing at the Staples Center just days before his death.
