Ludacris Helps Raise Money for Diabetes

With an exclusive performance in L.A., the rapper helped teach the Developing Options organization to raise awareness and money for the condition

On Sunday, July 18, rapper Ludacris was awarded the Developing Options Humanitarian Award for his support of community youth at a diabetes fundraiser.

Developing Options is a non-profit organization which helps improve the quality of life for young children suffering from the condition of diabetes.

The three-day event was sponsored by the Developing Options, the City of Los Angeles, Wells Fargo Bank, Powerade, the LAPD and football “legend/community activist,” Eugene “Big U” Henley.

According to the website, Henley “tapped stars like Ving Rhames, Tommy “Tiny” Lister and Ludacris to help teach the community about the importance of personal health and the need to have annual doctor visits.”

Allhiphop.com reported the event started last Friday with a sports clinic run by Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, DeSean Jackson, and Dwight Freeney of the Indianapolis Colts.

On Sunday night, an exclusive performance was given by Atlanta-native rapper Ludacris at the Nokia Live Club for the event.

After the performance, Luda tweeted to his fans, “We just raised A LOT of $ (money) for diabetes tonight. That (sic) everyone who came out tonight at Nokia Live in L.A. to support a very worthy cause.”
