Mackenzie Phillips-Still a Druggie?

Federal security staff searched her bags this morning at the airport and then arrested her on suspicion of possession of the narcotics after the screening.

Around 10 a.m., Phillips was arrested by Transportation Security Administration officials in Terminal 4, Los Angeles Airport Police Sgt. Jim Holcomb said.

Whether Phillips was alone or where she was planning to travel is unknown, authorities said.

The actress, 48, has been known to have problems with substance abuse. She has spoken publicly about her struggles during her time on the television comedy series, One Day at a Time. She left that production twice, due to drug addiction. Her claim to fame was her famous role in American Graffiti, over 30 years ago. It was at least 10 years ago that her drug problems were public, according to the L.A. Times.

The most recent and famous appearances occurred on the 1990s TV hit, Beverly Hills, 90210, where she played a counselor, but she has worked regularly since then, the L.A. Times said.

Another interesting fact, in case you didn't know, Phillips is the daughter of the late John Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas, reported the L.A. Times.
