Madea's Here to Stay

Tyler Perry says fans don't have to worry about losing their favorite matriarch.

The numerous reports that multi-talented Tyler Perry plans to kill off his main character, Madea, are false.

According to starpulse.com, the actor/director says that Madea will continue to be a principal in his plays and movies as long as there is still a fan base.

Perry's latest installment of the "Madea" movies has enjoyed tons of success, topping the box office chart last month with a $41.1 million opening.

Fans balked when Perry said that he wants to make the next portrayal of Madea, Madea's Class Reunion, his last, as it takes a tremendous amount to portray the older, outspoken matriarch.

"I would love to see Madea die a slow death in the next film. [She's] a whole lot of fun to watch. But to do it is a nightmare. It's all one suit that I'm zipped into, so it's all heavy. And the more I sweat, the heavier it gets," said Perry.

Perry insists that Madea is here to stay, so long as fans enjoy the blend of comedy and wisdom that she has to offer.
