Madonna and Live Nation On The Verge Of Landmark Deal

Madonna may drop herself from Warner Music

Madonna appears to be striking out into new territory once again in her career, this time with an unprecedented contract offer. Live Nation Inc., the national concert promotion firm, has put a $120 million deal on the table. On Madonna's side, the deal is a mix of cash advances and stock options, while Live Nation gains the rights to concert promotions and the sale of her next three studio albums, in addition to the rights to sell any other merchandise related to Madonna.

The singer is currently signed with Warner Music, where she has spent her entire career, and still owes the company both a new studio album and a best hits set, as per her contract. Reportedly, Warner recently countered Live Nation's offer by offering to pair up with IAC/InterActive Corp to forge a deal similar to that of Live Nation.

If Madonna does take Live Nation up on its offer, it will be the first time that a promotions company will have full record rights. It is unclear if they will release Madonna's projected studio albums through their own name. Either way, the deal will become the prime example for the changing scene of the music industry.
