Madonna and Ritchie Have Yet to Finalize a Settlement
A barrage of rumors swirling around British tabloids claiming that pop icon Madonna and her estranged husband, director Guy Ritchie, have finalized a divorce settlement has led the singer's publicist to issue a statement to the contrary, according to the Associated Press.
On Sunday, The Sun and The Mail ran stories that claimed Madonna and Ritchie agreed on a settlement over their finances and the couple's property. The latter tabloid also reported a custody agreement had been reached.
Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, told the Associated Press via e-mail that she would not comment on the frenzy of media reports regarding the details of a divorce settlement.
"I will not be commenting on the various reports regarding the divorce or of the settlement which has not been finalized," Rosenberg said.
A rep for Ritchie also declined to comment on a possible divorce settlement.
The couple did not have a prenuptial agreement in place and Ritchie stands to possibly win upwards of $100 million from the divorce.
The couple's separation was widely speculated over the summer and announced on Wednesday. Madonna and Ritchie were married in 2000 and have two children together: Rocco, 8, and David Banda, 3, whom the couple adopted from Malawi two years ago.
