Madonna to be Inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame
After twenty five years, her Madge-esty is finally being recognized. On Thursday, Madonna was announced among the list of inductees to the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame for this year.
Madonna takes top spot on the highly coveted list, joining John Mellencamp, Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark Five and The Ventures as Hall of Fame inductees. Prospective candidates are voted on by a select pool of 600 music industry elite. In order to be eligible, an artist must have released a recording at least 25 years prior. This is Madge's first year of eligibility; her first song "Everybody" was released in 1982.
The new inductees will be honored on March 10, 2008, during an induction ceremony held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. The ceremony will be broadcast live on VH1. All inductees honored will have permanent exhibits in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame Museum, located in Cleveland. Presenters and performers have yet to be announced.
