Madonna Dedicates "Like a Virgin" to Pope

This happened during her concert in Rome.

During Saturday night's sold out show in Rome, Madonna dedicated her biggest hit, "Like a Virgin," to the pope.

She was once accused by the Vatican of staging a satanic show in the mid-1980s, but now seems OK with their claims.

"I dedicate this song to the pope, because I'm a child of God," the 50-year-old queen of pop music said in front of her 60,000 fans that saw her during the Italian concert of her "Sticky & Sweet" world tour. "All of you are children of God."

The Italian press, in reaction to Madonna's dedication, have a field day.

"At the Roman leg of her tour, Madonna didn't miss the opportunity for a provocation that will certainly be discussed," Italy's Corriere della Sera said on their front page Sunday morning.

The Vatican has a long history with Madonna. In 2006, she staged a mock-crucifixion at a concert in Rome.

This was after the Vatican condemned her controversial 1989 video for "Like a Prayer," which had burning crosses and statues crying blood. And if that doesn't sound bad enough, Madonna was seen seducing a black Jesus.

Yipes.
