This year Madonna will stomp on the continuous reign of male-only halftime shows. Since the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake wardrobe malfunction fiasco, the Super Bowl has since showcased male only entertainment to avoid any trouble. This year, Madonna will take the stage and she ensures that “great attention to detail has been paid to my wardrobe.”
The Washington Post notes that the 2004 incident resulted in a $550,000 fine levied by the Federal Communications Commission against TV; it was because of that incident that the “Viagra Generation” of men had since taken over the Super Bowl halftime show.
Madonna plans to wow audiences of all ages, she tells MTV "The envelope I'm pushing is just for a spectacular show, which I think will entertain all age groups and hopefully will be a feast for the eyes and the ears.”
The pop-diva plans on performing three of her past songs and one new one entitled “Give Me All Your Luvin.” Rumored classics include “Ray of Light,” “Music” and “Vogue.” I'm so excited to be here. This is a Midwesterner girl's dream to be performing at the halftime show,” she gushed to reporters.
Despite her excitement, Madge admits that she is definitely feeling the pressure. “Oh my God, I'm so nervous, you have no idea…First of all, it's the Super Bowl. I mean the Super Bowl is kind of like the holy of holies in America right? ... I have to put on the greatest show on earth, in the middle of the greatest show on earth. I have eight minutes to set it up and seven minutes to take it down and 12 minutes to put on the greatest show on earth. That's a lot of pressure."
Madonna held a press conference where she discussed her excitement for the Super Bowl. She also showed off her moves, inspired by New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz. Check out her moves and the video below.
