Madonna Still Has Hopes for the Malawian Kid
Madonna continues to want to adopt a Malawian child, despite the difficulties she has faced. Mercy James is the name of the 4-year-old Malawian girl, according to the ABC news reports.
Madonna isn't allowed to adopt any child from Malawi unless she will live there for 18 to 24 months while the child welfare authorities check their suitability, the Associated Press reports.
However Madonna has adopted David, also from Malawi, in 2006. She first saw him in an orphanage with Mercy and she was able to take him with her immediately.
"I want to provide Mercy with a home, a loving family environment and the best education and healthcare possible," Madonna writes in an e-mail published in a Malawian newspaper, MSNBC reports. "And it's my hope that she, like David, will one day return to Malawi and help the people of their country," said Madonna on the Sunday newspaper.
