Madonna to Visit Injured Workers
According to French officials, Madonna is scheduled to appear in Marseilles, France, Sunday afternoon, to visit some of the stage workers who were injured on her Sticky and Sweet Tour.
Earlier this week, Madonna said she was "devastated" by the stage accident that claimed two lives.
"My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news," Madonna said in a statement.
On July 16, a crane raising the roof of the stage collapsed, killing two and leaving eight workers injured. Madonna was scheduled to perform Sunday at the Velodrome, the 66,000-seat venue where the fateful accident occurred.
The accident claimed the lives of French lighting technician, Charles Criscenzo, 53, and Charles Prow, 23, from Great Britain. In hopes of finding some answers regarding the tragedy, a criminal investigation has been launched.
Madonna's Marseille concert has been canceled. The singer's next stop on her concert tour is a sold-out show in Barcelona, July 21.
