Madonna's Film to Premiere on Sundance

Documentary about Malawi to air on World AIDS Day.

Madonna's documentary, I Am Because We Are, about the African nation of Malawi, which counts one million children as orphans because of AIDS, will have its television premiere on the Sundance Channel.

The Associated Press reports that the film will air on Monday December 1, which is also World AIDS Day.

Madonna, 50, wrote, produced, and narrated the film. I Am Because We Are is not all she has done for Malawi. She adopted her 3-year-old son, David, from the impoverished nation and she is also building a school there.

The film features interviews with former President Bill Clinton as well as Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Also, the film strives on its message that Madonna wanted to convey about Malawi - that there is hope.

"I did get to a point where I thought, 'I'm being overambitious, I'm trying to say too much, I'll never accomplish it.' But I feel proud of the fact that I did get to make all my points," Madonna said to the AP.

Madonna also wanted the audience of her film to know that they can get involved and help too. "If all you can do is live life in YOUR world in a way that shows you are responsible for the people around you," she said, "that's a course of action."

Madonna is going back to Malawi at the end of March, and the trip will include David and her two other children, Lourdes, 12, and Rocco, 8.

"I'm very involved in a lot of things that are going on there," she said, referring to the school as well as interviewing possible headmistresses for it. She also wants her children to be aware of those around the world who are not as privileged as them.

"And David's always going to understand where he came from, and what his life could have been like," Madonna said.

I Am Because We Are will air Monday at 9 p.m. EST.
