Madonna's First Concert In Russia

Madonna is scheduled to give a concert in Moscow, at the Luzhniki Olympic complex Tuesday night. This will be the legendary singer's first time ever to perform in Russia, and the fans there are ecstatic.

The plans for this concert, however, did change. The actual plan was for Madonna to perform on a hilltop near the complex yesterday, on September 11th. Unfortunately, there were too many concerns. For instance, police were concerned there would not be tight enough security for the singer, and that students at nearby universities would fall off buildings trying to see and hear Madonna.

Madonna then was going to perform at Tushino Airfield in northwestern Moscow; however, that caused some worry as well since that was the field where female Chechen separatists killed 15 people with bombs strapped to them.

Even though Madonna's appearance is exciting for some, the Russian Orthodox Church believes otherwise. They feel that her music is offensive to the Christian faith. They believe that one act she does with a crown laced with thorns, worn on the singer's head, is mocking the crucifixion of the son of God.

Despite the rebuttal, Madonna will be performing as scheduled. The cheapest her tickets sold for was over a grand, and they are completely sold out.
