Madonna made headlines earlier this week when it was reported that while she was at the Venice Film festival promoting her directorial effort W.E, she dissed a fan’s gift.

Unbeknownst to the fan, Madonna turned to her side to whisper that she “absolutely loathes hydrangeas,” upon receiving a bouquet of the flowers. The incident was caught on tape, and the singer was microphoned, so the whole ordeal went viral soon after it took place.

As a result, her rep issued a statement to CNN saying, "She's entitled to like any flower she wants and she didn't want to hurt the feeling of the hydrangeas of the world.”

The rep added, “No disrespect to the hydrangeas lovers of the world but she prefers different types of flowers."
