Mama Spears Reveals How She Learned About Jamie's Pregnancy
Lynne Spears, the mother of Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears, said she learned that her youngest daughter was pregnant through a note that Jamie Lynn wrote, according to the Associated Press.
During an interview on NBC's Today show to promote her new book, Spears said Jamie Lynn, who was 16 years old at the time, handed her a note and told her to go into her bedroom and read it.
Spears said the note told her everything was going to be alright because Jamie Lynn and the baby's father, Casey Aldridge, were going to raise the child together.
"I thought it was a joke," Spears said. "I kept waiting for the punch line."
Spears said she realized that there was not a punch line coming when Aldridge couldn't look at her.
"I was just truly in shock and then I started to cry. And then she started consoling me at that point," Spears said.
Spears is promoting her book, Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, with a series of television interviews, including an upcoming appearance on Larry King Live. Spears's tell-all book will be released Sept. 24.
