Ken Slayton issues statement that he is kidnapping victim Jaycee Dugard's biological father.

Jaycee Dugard has spent the last month being reacquainted with the family she had been forcibly separated from for 18 years, and she may soon have to be introduced to yet another member.

Ken Slayton, 63, stepped forward with his attornery Gloria Allred today to release a statement claiming that he believed he was Dugard's biological father.

According to Slayton, Terry Susan Probyn, Dugard's mother, and he were involved in a relationship for the month that coincided with that time that Probyn became pregnant. It was only until after they had split that he was made aware of the child, and at that point he was not able to learn of Probyn's whereabouts.

Dugard's spokesman says no one in the family has been contacted by Slayton since Dugard's return, but Slayton insisted in his statement that he wanted to now become a part of his daugther's life. Allred added that he is considering legal action if Dugard and family refuse him the opportunity of a paternity test.

Neither Dugard nor family has made a response to these claims. They have their attentions on issues more related to Dugard's kidnapping, their spokesman says, such as working on plans to incentivize officers to push harder in searches to locate other missing children.
