Manhattan Tattoo Parlor Fined

An inspector found an unlicensed tattoo artist working at East Side Ink.

East Side Ink, a Manhattan tattoo parlor where Rihanna gave tattoos to some of the employees, has been fined for allowing an unlicensed artist to work there.

According to New York Post, the artist had legally worked in another state before visiting New York. The citation for the parlor includes a fine that could be between $200 and $2,000. No other problems arose after the inspectors went back to the shop twice.

New York Daily News reports that the discovery occurred when Rihanna visited the shop to work on a few employees in July. She worked on her regular tattoo artist, BangBang, branding his leg with an "R" and doing the same on two other artists. According to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, only licensed tattoo artists can perform tattoos in the city.

A call was made to the Health Department about Rihanna's visit, but the singer was gone by the time an inspector arrived, MTV.com reports. While there, the inspector found an unlicensed worker and gave the parlor a fine. Rihanna has not been cited for her actions.
