Manny Pacquiao Files Lawsuit Against Mayweather Jr.
Manny Pacquiao filed a defamation lawsuit against Floyd Mayweather Jr., reported New York Daily News.
Although many critics say the lawsuit filed against Mayweather is part of a boxing prefight trash talk, Pacquiao’s representatives claim the suit is a serious matter.
On Wednesday Pacquiao filed a suit against Mayweather alleging that the opponent knowingly and maliciously publicized a fake accusation of Pacquiao doping.
The suit could backfire as it did with other athletes such as Roger Clemens and Shane Mosley, both who filed a defamation lawsuit got them in uncomfortable positions.
Clemens, who filed a suit against Brian McNamee, was put on an examination table and discovered. While Mosley’s suit dragged for nearly two years which ended with him describing injecting with endurance-boosting EPO.
Pacquiao’s attorney told reporters that the other lawsuits have no bearing on the case by Pacquiao.
Defendants in the lawsuit include Mayweather’s father, his trainer, his uncle, Mayweather Promotions, Richard Schaefer and Oscar De La Hoya.
