Marat Safin Retires
The 12-year tennis veteran has announced his retirement from the sport.
Marat Safin announced his retirement Wednesday after losing in the second round of the Paris Masters to U.S. Open champion Juan Martin del Potro, reports FOXSports.com. During his 12-year career, Safin won two Grand Slams and the Davis Cup.
According to the Associated Press, Safin was known for "furious, racket-throwing rants." At the peak of his career, Safin was seeded number one in the world in 2000. However, Safin struggled with injuries for the remainder of his career, derailing what could have been a more illustrious career.
The 29-year old said he is content with his time playing the sport and will not miss it.
