Mardi Gras in New Orleans- The Show Must Go On
New Orleans is the most popular spot in the country for revelers looking to celebrate Mardi Gras to gather. Some party goers have been living it up in the city since this weekend, where eight parades went on throughout Saturday and Sunday. However, the underlying fact is that New Orleans is still not up to it's pre-Katrina self.
According to Rolling Stone magazine, the city is still at a population of only 74% of what it was before the hurricane swept through. And although many houses have been rebuilt or renovated, many people still are without housing and funding in these tough economic times.
However, some New Orleans natives are hopeful that Mardi Gras will bring in some much needed revenue, and based on the business of Louisiana's airports and the amount of costumed people celebrating in the streets, it looks as though Mardi Gras could do the trick.
