Marianne Faithfull diagnosed with breast cancer

Marianne Faithfull's publicist revealed Faithfull has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The 59-year-old actress and singer, Marianne Faithfull has been diagnosed with the early stages of breast cancer. Faithfull's publicist gave the news to the public Thursday.

The former girlfriend of The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger, was scheduled to do a world tour next month, but needed to postpone the concert due to her recent illness. However, she has said next year's tour will be one "huge celebration."

Faithfull's career began in 1964, when she was only 17 years old. She was discovered at the Rolling Stones launch party and her first hit single, "As Tears Go By" was made with Jagger and bandmate, Keith Richards.

However, Faithfull's extreme drug addiction left her on the streets of London and caused a major setback for her career. She came back strong in 1979, with her album "Broken English," and reinvented herself in the '80s as a Jazz/Blues singer.

Faithfull has not given up hope for her fight with cancer. She said she is very confident that her medical team will help her get well again, and may be" better than ever."
