One of Hollywood's most memorable costumes was auctioned off at a hefty price.

Debbie Reynolds held an auction over the weekend with Hollywood costumes she had collected throughout the years. Originally, Reynolds had hoped to display the famed clothing in a museum, however, she decided to sell them in order to reimburse creditors.

One of the famous costumes to grace the auction room was Marilyn Monroe's ivory dress from The Seven Year Itch. The halter dress sold for a reported $4.6 million, according to Digital Spy. Reynolds was overjoyed with the success of the auction.

She stated in regards to her vast collection of historic costumes, "Now everyone has the opportunity to own them."

Additional costumes that were auctioned off included Judy Garland's blue dress from The Wizard of Oz, the orange suit Mike Myers wore in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Audrey Hepburn's dress in My Fair Lady, and another Monroe costume, the red-sequined dazzler dress that she wore in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

According to N.Y. Daily News, "The Reynolds Collection includes 3,500 costumes, 20,000 original photographs and several thousand movie posters, props and more."

"A second auction will be held in December."
