Marion "Suge" Knight Named Gang Member

According to Reuters, Marion "Suge" Knight was named by police as a member of a well known Los Angeles gang during a crackdown in Compton on Thursday.Knight was one of about 200 people that police identified as being part of the gang, Mob Piru.

Police hope to enact an injunction, which will create a "safety zone" in areas of Compton. This injunction would prevent these 200 alleged gang members of Mob Piru from congregating, having guns, using gang signs, writing graffiti, fighting and staying out past 10 p.m., according to The Los Angeles Times. Violators will be subject to $1,000 fine or up to a year in jail.

Knight calls the injunctions a "publicity stunt." He says "I'm a 42-year-old businessman, not a gang member. I don't even live in Compton anymore . . . ."

Knight is most recognized as the co-founder of Death Row Records, the label that once featured multiple rap stars including Tupac Shakur.
