Mariska Hargitay to remain on ‘SVU’

Law and Order: SVU fans rejoice! Mariska Hargitay will not be leaving the popular show.

Even though her costar, Christopher Meloni has exited, Hargitay will remain. Perez Hilton reports that two new characters, played by Danny Pino and Kelly Giddish, will appear in the show’s thirteenth season.

However, Hargitay will now play a supporting, rather than leading role on the show, so that she can spend more time with her family. She will appear in every episode of the season, though.

According to CBS News, rapper Ice-T will also reprise his role in the forthcoming season. He will appear in the fourteenth season as well. He tweeted, “EXCLUSIVE: I've just locked in my new SVU deal.. So I'll officially be back for the next 2 years at least. DONE.”

Law and Order: SVU premiered in 1999. The original Law and Order debuted in 1990.
