Mark Hamill, best known as Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars films and the voice of the Joker on Batman: The Animated Series, has always been known to be a comic book geek himself. So, it should come as no surprise to his fans that he would jump on the chance to be involved with a comic book series.

At the New York Comic-Con this week, Hamill is expected to announce that he has signed on to be a creative consultant for a comic book series called New-Gen. He will appear alongside the series’ creators, J.D. and Chris Matonti and Julia Coppola.

The three creators will be selling a graphic novel of the six-issue series, which began back in 2008 and is about twin brothers with extraordinary powers seeking their origins in a nanotechnology-powered future. Hamill wrote the introduction of the Marvel Comics-distributed novel, according to Deadline.

Hamill will also work on a film based on the story, The Wrap reports. The Hunt for Red October producer Mace Neufeld will produce the film with X-Men: First Class’s Kim H. Winther. David Tattersall , who worked on the Star Wars prequels, will be the director of photography and Jeffrey A. Okun, who worked on the The Day The Earth Stood Still remake, will supervise the visual effects.

J.D. Matonti will direct the film.

Hammill said in a statement to Deadline that he is honored to work with the team, adding that, “New-Gen is a fresh and powerful new story that will surely resonate with audiences across multiple platforms."
