Mark Wahlberg and Jonah Hill have signed on to star as antihero partners in the upcoming action comedy Good Time Gang.

The independent project centers on a pair of hard-partying mercenaries who agree to tackle a terrorist case, only to have their mission become quite complicated as a result of familial drama.

The film reportedly contains more action than comedy, with sources familiar with the plot describing it as a modern spin on Lethal Weapon.

RCR Pictures’ Good Time Gang is being developed by John Landis’ son, Max, the screenwriter who penned a Frankenstein project that is currently in the works at 20th Century Fox, according to The Los Angeles Times. There is no director attached to the film at this point in time.

Neither Wahlberg nor Hill are strangers to the buddy-cup action-drama genre, The Huffington Post notes. Wahlberg starred opposite Will Ferrell in 2010’s The Other Guys, while Hill’s remake of the 1980s undercover cop show 21 Jump Street is scheduled for release on March 16, 2012.
