Martha Stewart: Back on TV
Martha Stewart is set to star in a daily syndicated television show that will debut in fall 2005.
While Stewart is currently serving a five-month prison sentence after being convicted on charges of obstruction of justice and lying to prosecutors, she is ready to get back on TV, sans the jail jokes.
Stewart's company has announced to the public that the much-loved founder of Martha Stewart Living will host her new hour-long show in front of a live audience.
The show will run on NBC's owned and operated stations, meaning Stewart will be broadcast to about 30% of the national audience, according to Martha Stewart Living. The deal with NBC Universal is a multiyear agreement, the companies said.
It seems Stewart's fan base has faith in her, even when she is behind bars. After months of poor stock quotes, shares of Martha Stewart Living rose sharply in advance of and following the announcement of the new endeavor. According to TheStreet.com, the company's stock has more than doubled since September.
