Mary-Kate Olsen Remains Silent on Ledger's Passing

Mary-Kate Olsen has made it clear that she will not divulge any more information regarding the death of Heath Ledger.

The knowledge that Mary-Kate Olsen possesses about the death of actor Heath Ledger must be real important, as she has since refused to speak to investigators and authorities about the incident until she is granted immunity from prosecution.

According to BBC News.com, an official made it clear that Olsen deems this protection necessary before speaking to the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration). She was the first individual reached by the masseuse who discovered the actor's body. However, her lawyer, Michael C. Miller, has repeatedly told authorities that Olsen has stated all that she knows on the matter.

That will not satisfy federal investigators, who request that Olsen tell them how Ledger obtained a pair of powerful painkillers that supposedly led to his death. Miller reiterated once again that Olsen had no knowledge of how the actor obtained said painkillers.

Miller's refusal to allow Olsen to speak on this situation has occurred twice, according to BBC News.com. Investigators, however, are undeterred and remain in negotiations with Olsen's lawyers and the prosecution office.

Based on reports by BBC News.com, an official, speaking anonymously, made it clear that authorities have obtained a subpoena that could mandate a court appearance by Olsen should this round of talks prove fruitless.

It would be an unusual state of affairs for Olsen, as others, including Michelle Williams, Ledger's ex-girlfriend, have spoken voluntarily to authorities regarding their knowledge of the actor's passing.

Through investigating this matter, BBC News.com mentioned that the DEA has since concluded that the painkillers that were found in Ledger's body were gathered "under false prescriptions." The masseuse who discovered his body tried reaching Olsen three times for help, and then once more after that, once paramedics arrived.

It is hoped that Olsen will eventually come clean regarding any additional knowledge that she possesses of his death.
