Matt Damon Speaks Out Against Sarah Palin
Matt Damon took digs at Republican Presidential nominee John McCain and his running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
The actor suggested McCain, 72, may not live to fulfill his first term.
"I think there's a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that's a really scary thing," Damon told the Associated Press.
Damon called the potential Palin presidency a "terrifying possibility" from a Disney movie gone wrong.
"It's like a really bad Disney movie," he said. "The hockey mom, you know, 'Oh, I'm just a hockey mom' . . . and she's facing down [Russian] President Putin. . . . It's totally absurd. . . . It's a really terrifying possibility."
He questioned Palin's qualifications, hinting that the Republican party's first female vying for a top White House position was chosen for purely "political reasons."
Ironically, Damon told Conde Nast Traveler just last month that he feared putting his foot in his mouth publicly.
"For a lot of actors, our biggest fear is that we're going to start talking about things we don't fully understand and sound like idiots," he said. "In the long run, I'll do much more good if, when I open my mouth, I have something worth saying."
