Matt Lauer Separates from Wife after Infidelity Scandal

NBC news correspondent Matt Lauer and his wife of 12 years, Annette, have reportedly separated due to a marital infidelity scandal.

While Matt Lauer’s marital infidelity rumors are not likely to generate as many headlines as Tiger Woods and Jesse James’ recent scandals, they have reportedly contributed to the breakup between he and his wife. The New York Daily News is reporting that Lauer’s marriage to his wife of 12 years, Annette, has come to an end after she kicked the NBC news correspondent out of their home.

Annette filed for divorce from her husband back in 2006 when she was pregnant with the couple’s third child, Thijs, but she decided to withdraw the request just one month after initially filing for separation. However, the couple appears to have permanently separated due to marital infidelity allegations that surfaced back in February when Lauer was covering the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada.

Although the 2010 Winter Olympics occurred from Tuesday, February 9th through Friday, February 26th, Lauer chose to remain in Vancouver after The Today Show had completed production and returned to their New York studio. The wife of one of Lauer’s colleagues informed Annette that her husband cheated on her while partying at local night clubs and became attracted to two young Canadian broadcasters.

Annette initially became suspicious when he stood her up on Valentine’s Day, and despite the fact that Matt Lauer vehemently denied the marital infidelity allegations when he returned to the United States, the couple was reportedly involved in a heated verbal altercation that resulted in his expulsion from their home.
