McCain Angered over Kerry Partnership Question
According to CBS News, John McCain got angry with a reporter during his flight to New Orleans because she kept asking McCain about a conversation that he had with Senator John Kerry about being his possible running mate in 2004.
New York Times reporter Elisabeth Bumiller asked McCain about a Times article that was written in May 2004, which stated that McCain said he had never had a conversation at all with Kerry.
The Arizona Senator fired back at Bumiller and said, "I don't know what you read or may have heard of, I don't know the circumstances. Maybe in May of '04 I hadn't had the conversation," he said.
"Everybody knows that I had a private conversation. Everybody knows that. That I had a conversation," McCain continued. "And you know it too. You know it. You know it. So I don't even know why you asked."
McCain was also asked about the conversation between him and Kerry during a public forum in Atlanta, according to the New York Times. McCain told the public, "He [Kerry] is, as he describes himself, a liberal Democrat. I am a conservative Republican. So when I was approached, when we had that conversation back in 2004, that's why I never even considered such a thing."
