McCartney's Liverpool Gig Promises Surprises
Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney is promising big things for his performance this weekend at Liverpool's Anfield football ground, BBC News reports.
McCartney, who was just honored by Yale University and celebrates his 65th birthday this coming month, promised that the show will include "a few surprises." However, the musician also realizes that when people come to see someone of his stature, they also want the classics. "If I go to see someone's show, I want them to do the hits," McCartney admitted.
The concert is part of Liverpool's year as Europe's Capital Of Culture. The world-famous Liverpool native is, like many people, happy with the improvements the harbor city has experienced in the past few years. "About 12 years ago, Liverpool was a bit on its knees - it was not in good shape at all. But now there's quite a resurgence," the left-handed bassist opined.
McCartney and his band are "just going to have a good night out" at the concert and the musician has also countered rumors regarding a possible reunion with fellow ex-Beatle Ringo Starr. "That was never going to be on the cards," he said against rumors that the two would be performing together.
The Liverpool concert will also include performances from Dave Grohl, the Kaiser Chiefs, and the Zutons.
