McGreevey Judge Seals Records

Divorce judge seals child records in case.

The divorce fight between the former governor of New Jersey and his estranged wife continues to get worse.

A Superior Court judge sealed several case records related to James McGreevey and his wife's six-year old daughter, Jacqueline, just days after the two parents argued about their sex lives in public, according to the Newark Star Ledger.

Judge Karen Cassidy's one-page order directed that all proceedings and filings related to "custody and parenting time" of the daughter be closed to the public, the newspaper said. Many of those papers and hearings have been accessible during the lengthy case.

The ruling followed bitter accusations between McGreevey and his former wife, Dina Matos McGreevey. A former statehouse aide, Theodore Pedersen, said he routinely engaged in three-way sex with the couple during McGreevey's gubernatorial campaign, a comment that McGreevey has confirmed.

His wife has disagreed. She said that the claims were false and argued that the statement was a part of a campaign by McGreevey to smear her, the newspaper said.

Matos McGreevey is seeking more than $600,000 in damages, claiming her husband duped her into a loveless marriage to further his political career. He has countered that he committed no fraud because he gave her a child and companionship.
