From McSteamy's Lips (and His Rep's)
Actor Eric Dane, who plays Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan on the medical drama, Grey's Anatomy, spoke to OK! magazine about an incident where he had "malignant tissue" on his lip removed, Access Hollywood reports. The magazine is running a cover story about Dane's lip tissue removal, called "My Fight Against Cancer," which Dane's rep calls a "misrepresentation." The actor's reps are adamant that Dane "does NOT have cancer."
In the OK! article, the actor reportedly talks about how he first noticed a problem when he looked in the mirror at what appeared to be chapped lips. He went to his dermatologist, who said it was "malignant tissue caused by sun damage." To remove the cancerous tissue, liquid nitrogen was used to freeze it. Dane was then given a cream to use on his lips following the treatment. Having "very sensitive" skin, with his lip "traumatized by the procedure" he had undergone, Dane then had a severe reaction to the cream, which made it very difficult for him to eat and caused him to "lose a bunch of weight," as the actor told OK! He also admits, "I wasn't so vigilant then [about sun protection], I am now. And I think everybody should be."
