Mel Gibson to appear on "Good Morning America"

The troubled actor's first TV interview since his high-profile arrest will air next week.

After spending the last months of summer out of the spotlight following his drunk-driving arrest and the anti-Semetic remarks that caused an uproar, Mel Gibson will give his first interview next week on "Good Morning America."

The actor-director taped a two-part interview with Diane Sawyer, set to air Oct. 12 and 13. Gibson's publicist Alan Nierob did not reveal what the interview would cover.

"We'll have to wait and see," Neirob said.

Since his arrest, Gibson has been keeping a low profile while attending a recovery program and rehab classes. "The Passion of the Christ" director has also been meeting with Jewish leaders to come to terms with the remarks he made.

Gibson was arrested July 28 while speeding through Malibu. In addition to receiving three years' probation and paying a fine, Gibson has also volunteered to tape a public service announcement on drunk driving.

His film "Apocalypto," a subtitled film depicting the ancient Mayan civilization, is due Dec. 8.
