Mel Gibson arrested

Mel Gibson was arrested early Friday morning on drunk driving suspicion, a Malibu Sheriff spokesperson told the Associated Press.

Gibson's vehicle was speeding on a highway when officers stopped his car around 2:30 a.m., according to the AP. The spokesman said Gibson was cited and released, bond was set at $5,000.

"The investigation is ongoing," Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said. "As we would do with anyone, we don't want to release any more since the information is fragmentary."

Gibson' spokesman said he was looking into the matter, according to the AP.
