Melrose Place Star Arrested for DUI
Actress Heather Locklear, who spent time in a medical facility earlier this year reportedly for anxiety and depression, is rekindling drug abuse rumors after being arrested in Santa Barbara, Calif., this weekend for allegedly driving under the influence of prescription drugs, according to Reuters.
California Highway Patrol officers arrested the 47-year-old actress Saturday night. Locklear was later released without having to post bail.
Reports circulated over the weekend that witnesses saw Locklear driving erratically as she left a parking lot. A CHP officer later found Locklear's vehicle parked on a highway and blocking a traffic lane in Montecito, about 90 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
The officer believed Locklear was under the influence and took her into custody.
"In talking with her, [the officer] determined that she seems to be under the influence of something," a patrol spokesman said.
In June, Locklear checked into a medical facility in Arizona, claiming anxiety and depression issues. Widespread speculation claimed Locklear was actually seeking help for a drug abuse problem.
Locklear starred in several television shows over the decades, including Dynasty, Melrose Place and Spin City.
