Merriman Arrested for Battery
San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman has been arrested and charged with battery and false imprisonment.
According to a report by FOXSports.com, San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman has been arrested and charged with battery and false imprisonment, happening early Sunday morning. Police received a phone call at about 3:45 a.m. from a woman who claimed to have been choked and restrained.
CNN International reports that the woman involved is MTV reality star Tila Tequila. The woman referred to herself as Tila Nguyen, Tequila's legal name, when police arrived to arrest Merriman. She signed a citizen's arrest at the scene.
Washington Post states that Merriman was released from custody at about 11 a.m. The two had gone to a nightclub prior to going to Merriman's home and Nguyen was "intoxicated" when police arrived at the scene.
