Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock Share Best Actress Award

The voters for the Critics’ Choice Awards could not pick a winner for best actress

The Critics’ Choice Awards did not have a definite winner for the best actress award, so the prize was shared between two actresses: Meryl Streep, for “Julie and Julia,” and Sandra Bullock for “The Blind Side.”

Other awards that were handed out at the Critics’ Choice Awards were “The Hurt Locker” for the best film, and the director, Kathryn Bigelow, won best director.

“Avatar,” which was directed by James Cameron, won five awards—best action movie, best cinematography, best editing, best art direction, and best sound and visual effects.

Jeff Bridges took home the award for best actor for his role in “Crazy Heart,” and best supporting actor went to Christoph Waltz for “Inglourious Basterds.” Mo’Nique was presented with best supporting actress for her role in “Precious.”

“Inglourious Basterds” also took home awards for best original screenplay and best ensemble cast.

When Bullock was thanking the audience after getting the award, she took the time to talk about the disaster in Haiti. Bullock has recently donated $1 million to the medical charity Doctors Without Borders to help with the relief effort in Haiti. “We’re all so lucky to be here tonight when so many others are in pain. I hope we can all send good love and thoughts and whatever we can,” Bullock said.
