Method Man arrested for tax evasion
Rapper Method Man was arrested Monday for failing to pay taxes between 2004 and 2007.
Method Man was arrested on Monday for tax evasion. According to the New York Daily News, the 38-year-old, whose real name is Clifford Smith, turned himself in to police early Monday morning.
Smith is accused of failing to pay New York income taxes from 2004 through 2007, and owes a reported $32, 799.
MTV.com reported that he was charged with two counts of tax evasion, and the most serious charge he is facing is a felony violation of repeated failure to file personal income and earnings tax. He could face up to four years in prison.
Smith was released without bail and is due back in court on Dec. 9.
