M.I.A. Confirms Pregnancy
After pictures from a performance on Saturday sparked baby bump rumors in the blogosphere, singer M.I.A. laid the pregnancy rumors to rest by confirming that she is expecting, according to People magazine.
"I'm creating a baby," the 31-year-old singer told Pitchfork Media over the weekend.
"When I found out I was pregnant and 'Paper Planes' was in the iTunes top 10, it seemed like the whole world was reshuffled in one week, and all my plans went out the window," she said. "I've got two kids, that's what it feels like. And that's the lesson - you can't make plans."
The singer's fiance is Ben Brewer, the guitarist for the Exit. The couple chose not to reveal the baby's gender or when the baby is due. M.I.A. pointed out that she was serious about their relationship and having children.
"I got engaged first, then I got pregnant, kids," she said.
The singer said she is recording a few tracks for a new album, but first she will have to make the rounds with her family.
"I have to do the rounds - go see my family and show them the belly," she said.
This is the first child for the couple.
