On the set of the upcoming comic-book movie Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Michael Cera and his costars played poker during their downtime.
The 22-year-old actor told People at San Diego’s Comic-Con International, "I wouldn't say I'm great.”
Instead he admitted that his costars "didn't know what they were getting into … I play in a really good game in L.A. with really good players, people who are a few levels above me.”
He added, “I just try to walk away with my money from that game, and that's made me a better player."
Johnny Simmons, one of Cera’s costars, agreed, "He's a damn good poker player, and he takes all your money. Michael and Keiran Culkin are shark-level. I lost so much per diem to those guys."
Director Edgar Wright staged a lot of complicated action setups throughout the movie, so the actors found themselves with a lot of free time while filming. Cera was able to pad his wallet from the poker games and use his winnings at the casino.
Unfortunately, he confessed, "We went to the casino a lot while making this movie, and I lost a lot of money there. Anything that I won in poker I lost at the casino."
