Michael J. Fox Close to Finalizing a Deal to Appear on "Rescue Me"

Fox is currently battling Parkinson's disease.

Michael J. Fox is close to returning to acting after a two year hiatus, according to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello. Fox is nearing the completion of a deal that would see the actor embark on a multi-episode arc on the fifth season of FX's Rescue Me, where he would play the love interest of Tommy Gavin's ex-wife (Andrea Roth).

A spokesperson at the network tells EW that Fox is seriously considering the role, but is persistent in saying that there is still no deal in place.

But, as the magazine points out, given that Fox and Denis Leary (who plays Rescue Me's main character, the troubled Tommy Gavin) are longtime friends, there shouldn't be many hiccups in finalizing the deal.

If he does sign on, Fox's stint on Rescue Me would be his first role since playing a dying CEO on Boston Legal. The fifth season of the FX show is set to begin shooting soon, and will air next March.
