Michael Jackson Dies at 50

The "King of Pop" has died. Michael Jackson, at the age of 50, was pronounced dead as the result of cardiac arrest, Thursday, June 25.

There could have been a number of factors that caused cardiac arrest. Cardiologist Dr. Christopher Cannon suggests that it was caused by emotional stress which can contribute to a deadly condition. Dr. Cannon, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, commented on ABCNews that stressful situations increased the chances for the risk of cardiac arrest.

As to the question of how his heart condition came about, it is too early to tell. The exact reasons for Jackson's death are still in question. However, undiagnosed heart disease is the leading underlying cause of cardiac arrest.

There could be other risk factors such as family history of a heart condition, previous heart attack, drug abuse, alcohol or other recurrences in health.
